TWO: Diigo

Due Monday February 13!

Diigo (play /ˈdɡ/)is a social bookmarking website which allows signed-up users to bookmark and tag web-pages. Additionally, it allows users to highlight any part of a webpage and attach sticky notes to specific highlights or to a whole page. These annotations can be kept private, shared with a group within Diigo or a special link forwarded to someone else. The name "Diigo" is an acronym from "Digest of Internet Information, Groups and Other stuff".

As an educator, this site allows you to collect, organize and share information that you could possibly use in your teaching. It also makes this information accessible from anywhere!

To get an idea of what this site is all about, watch this introductory video:

At it simplest, Diigo is a tool for bookmarking and organizing all of your favorite web information. It is, however, capable of much more.
Go here: http://www.diigo.com/learn_more

...and, on the left, click on Research, Share and Collaborate to view three videos about using Diigo for these purposes.

Then, to get started with Diigo, you will need to create an account. So, click on"Join Diigo" at the top right of the page.

After creating your account, log in. The first thing you will probably want to do is install some tools. At the top, click on TOOLS. Then, under "Bookmarklets" choose the tools you wish to install. The best option is probably the first one, "Diigolet". This will give you the capability to bookmark as well as highlight, share and add sticky notes.

Once you install the tool(s), find your way around Diigo! Add some sites, highlight..add sticky notes, etc.

After completing all of this, do your usual blog post..include ideas for how this sight might be beneficial to you and those you work with... AND, in your blog post, include your Diigo user name so we can find you!
